Real Rappers Due Real Things

First, we have T.I. about to serve a year in jail. Foxy Brown is in jail. The Game to serve 6o days in jail. Lil Kim served her time, and Remy Ma is about to be sentenced to jail.

The rap game is not about going to jail. I know that it helps rapper get more street cred. But there are a long list of other rappers who are waiting to be dealt with by the legal system.

Real rappers make good music which makes their fans happy. And if fans are happy people all over the globe purchase rappers albums which makes them rich and famous.

Jail sentences only interrupt the flow of music and money. No one can enjoy music that never created or heard. Think before acting.

Florida Apologizes For Slavery

Florida has officially apologized to African-Americans for the brutality inflicted on Blacks during the slavery era.

In a resolution adopted on Wednesday the Floria Legislature expressed "profound regret for the shameful chapter in this states history". Florida has become the sixth state to offer an apology.

Florida had maintained a slave state from 1822 to 1865 when the 13th Amendment offically ended slavery.

Five other U.S. States have apologized for slavery since last year, including Alabama, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Virginia.

T.I. Enters A Plea, Remy Ma found Guilty

I don't usually write about two topics and one time but because of the nature of the stories a felt it was appropriate.

T.I. has entered into a plea agreement and if a plea is approved he will only face up to 12months in prison and will be ordered to serve 1,500 hours of community service speaking to youth groups.

However, in New York Remy Ma wasn't so lucky. What appeared to be an equitable settlement with the dropping of the civil charges turned out not to be the case.

The jury returned a guilty verdict. Remy Ma sobbed "Oh my God" as the verdict was announced.

Remy Ma maintained that the shooting was an accident. Her sentencing will be in April, she faces 25 years.

I will leave everyone with this thought think how a decision will affect your future before ruining all the good things you have done in your past.

Atlanta Georgia Wants Pull Up Your Pants Law

Atlanta Georgia is the latest state to jump on the fashion police bandwagon. The reason is because of the way that today's youth wear their pants. Which is really low and showing their underwear.

The Atlanta legislature has entered the fight saying that it is not appropriate to wear one pants while in public.

It may be inappropriate but is it illegal, I would have to say no. The origin of the stag began in prison with prisoners who had no belts and had to let their pants sag and underwear show.

The dress of youth has always been disapproved of by the older generation. The best thing to do is to let the style be outgrown.

A Few Good Women

Today I would like to pay tribute to a few African-American women who were couragous enough to forge the way and change the world for both men and women.

First, in 1921 Elizabeth "Bessie" Coleman was the first African-American woman to become an Airplane pilot. And the first American to hold an International pilots license.

Then in 1957 Althea Gibson became the first African-American woman play in Wimbledon and the U.S. National tennis tornaments. By 1958 she had won both.

In more recent years African-American Women have made strides in both the courts and politics.

Constance Baker motley became the first African-American Federal Judge in 1966.

Carol Mosley Braun was elected the first African-American woman to serve as a U.S. Senator from the State of Illonios in 1992.

Finally in 2005 Condeleeza Rice became the first African-American woman to serve as the Secretary of State.

I would like to also salute those African-American woman who I did not mention due to space and time limitations.

T.I. Addresses 30,000 At Atlanta Easter Service

T.I. is back but not as the rapper we all know as the King of The South. Instead he appeared in front of a 30,000 people who attended Easter services on Sunday.

T.I. was at the New Birth Missionary Church and spoke about HIV and Aids awareness. He told the crowd that they were there to celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior.
Jesus was willing to give his life so that our sins could be forgiven.

New Births Pastor Eddie Long asked T.I. to be a part of the service and the courts gave T.I. permission to attend. T.I. was arrested on gun charges and has been serving house arrest for the past several months.

T.I. was accompanied by his mother, his six children, and his significant other Tameka" Tiny" Cottle, who is six months pregnant with a boy, the couples second child. They arrived in a tour bus and stayed for the entire service.

After the service T.I. went home and had dinner with his family.

T.I has been recording during his house arrest. He has created dozens of songs and some of his music is going to appear on upcoming mixed tapes.

I'm glad to see that T.I. is getting his life together and spending time with his family. His imposed house arrest may have been a blessing in disguise.

If you have to be confined, its better to be confined to your mansion with your family, than in a jail cell.

20 Million Civil Law Suite Against Remy Martin Dropped

Remy Martin formerly of the Terror Squad is currently defending herself in court against Charges that she shot a friend Wakeda Burnes Joseph because she stole $2000 from Remy's purse.

Remy's lawyer stated that he had always known that Ms. Joseph motivation was to get money from Remy.

Usually in legal terms a victim dropping a civil suite means that the parties have reached an equitable monetary agreement in return for the dropping of all charges criminal and civil.

If this is the case in future Remy should think before she reacts. So Remy Martin I hope to see you soon making music because I like the way your conceited and I see you got a reason.

Sean Bell Trial Witness Says What Gun

In the 2006 Sean Bell shooting case three officers have entered the second week of the trail. Detectives Gescard F. Isnora, Michael Oliver, and Marc Cooper are charged with negligent homicide for the shooting outside of the Club Kalua strip Club.

Bell and friends were attending a bachelor party and they had a problem which led the detectives to believe that Bell's party was armed.

The detectives wounded two men and killed Bell. It was later revealed that the men were unarmed.

This brings us to the present day court room in which a witness for the detectives Fabio Coicou who first stated that he heard someone in the Bell party state "We'll get the gat?"

Coicou has recanted his statement and added I don't even know what a gat is. Two of Bell's friends told the judge that they thought Coicou had a gun.

Coicou testified that "I kept my hands in my pocket t.o demonstrate peace."

Unfortunately it does not look good for the three detectives who made a mistake causing the death of Sean Bell and wounding his friends.

Its a tragedy and an indication that more training is needed for detectives who find them selves in similar situations.

Detroit City Council Wants Hip-hop Mayor Out

Detroit has a problem and most feel it can only be solved by having the city's Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick resign his office.

Mayor Kilpatrick had the city council vote on a resolution asking him to resign. The vote result was 7 -1 for resignation. But the mayor said OK, now it's over, it has no effect, it's not binding.

I get the idea that the city council doesn't really like Kilpatrick because he is a 38-year-old, earring wearing Mayor. But what bothers them the most is that they have given evidence to the media that the Mayor has been involved in an on going affair with his chief of staff, Christine Beatty. And he still won't resign.

At first Kilpatrick and Beatty denied that they were having an affair. But when confronted with the evidence Kilpatrick went on local TV to apologize and beg for the public's forgiveness.

Kilpatrick feels the council should allow him to get back to the business of running the city.

In my opinion Kilpatric's swagger and street credibility will carry him through. But it is not acceptable to cheat on his wife.

Busta Gets Probation

You know it's interesting because it seems no matter where rappers go trouble is never far behind. Most rappers are still fighting charges from years earlier. Well at least Trevor Smith which is the real name of Busta Rhymes is.

Busta was sentenced to three years probation, 10 days of community service and a fine of $1250.

Trouble really followed Busta in 2006 and 2007.He was charged with assault two times. First against a individual name Roberto Lebron in the Chelsa district of New York and against a chauffeur a year earlier.

He initially faced up to one year in jail after he was arrested for a DWI and an assault on separate occasions.

Busta thanked the judge and his fans for being supportive. He forgot to thank good but that's OK, I'm sure a lot of people out there thanked God for you.

L.A. Times Sugguest Diddy Knew Who Shot Tupac In NY Studio 1994

Tupac was shot and robbed in 1994 in a New York Studio. After the incident Tupac claimed that the CEO of Bad Boy Entertainment knew who shot him.

After the incident Tupac recorded "Hit Em Up," which dissed Diddy and Notorious B.I.G.. Tupac who was once friends with B.I.G. said he had been set up. An article by Chuck Phillips suggest that Diddy knew about a plan by Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond that was designed to look like a robbery. But in actuality the fake robbery was retaliation for dissing Diddy and B.I.G..

Rosemond who manages rapper The Game has denied any involvement in the incident.

Everyone involved has called the story garbage and untrue and has stated that they have had nothing to do with Tupac being robbed or shot.

B.I.G. was murdered in Los Angeles several months after the Tupak was killed in a Las Vegas drive-by. Both murders are unsolved.

Two of the most talented men in rap with bright futures gunned down in their prime.

My condolences to their families, and to Hip-hop.

The Five Hottest Hip-Hop Producers

I was thinking about the music that has been created over the last few years and came up with a list of Producers of Hip-Hop music that most people will agree have had a great deal of influence on the music industry.

1. Dr. Dre who began in Compton with NWA. He went on to produce Snoop Dog, Eminem, and 50 cent after founding Aftermath Records.

2. J. Dilla is from Detroit who was responsible for D'Angelo and Common's organic sound. R.I.P

3. Rza is from Staten Island and the architect of the Wu-Tang Clan sound. His use of soul samples has influenced the next generation of up and coming producers.

4. High Tech is from New York and also ran Rawkus Records. He is responsible for the Kool G Rap and Pharoahe Monch sound. He used soul, jazz, and funk samples that made his beats unique. High Tech now works for Dr. Dre's Aftermath.

5. Marley Marl is from New York and is famous for his mix of synthetic bleep and sampled snare. He is also the producer of MC Shan's the Bridge. One of the most revered hip hop song of all time.

Church Under Fire From Government

Recently a Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa asked two ministers The Rev. Crefolo Dollar and a fellow Mega-pastor Bishop Eddie Long to give up financial reports on their churches.

The Senator wants to look into allegations of financial improprieties, following complaints that several big-name televangelists are sporting Rolls-Royces, private jets and number of other luxury items while avoiding federal tax laws.

Several big-time televangelists were sent letters asking them to provide financial reports on their churches. To date only Benny Hinn of the World Healing Center Church Inc. and Benny Hinn Ministries of the Grapevine, and Joyce Meyers Ministries of Fenton, Missouri have complied.

Most of the Ministers are concerned whether it is Grassely acting alone are if he has support from fellow lawmakers.

This situation is exactly why the separation of church and state is in effect. The church by the nature of it work and support of the people like the government naturally acquires large amounts of money and property.

State officials ride in limousines payed for by the taxpayers, while the average tax payer rides in whatever he or she can afford.

Tax payers allow this because they want their leaders to appear prosperous. Church parishioners want the same to be said for their leaders.

Jay-Z Looking Recognizable Again

While surfing VH-1 I came across a video by Jay-Z called "I know". The lyrics are on par with other hits he has made.

It appears that he has gone back to the drawing board and remembered what it was that had made him number one in the rap game.

I really did not like some of the songs on the American Gangster album because I did not feel that the lyrics were top shelf.

But, "I know" from the same album is classic Jay-Z. However, the only thing that I do have a problem with is the video. In my opinion it could have been a lot better. While it related to the lyrics Jay-Z created, it only related loosely to the lyrics.

So, the song is nice but the video could have been better.

Lil Ma Doing It Like Lil Kim

Lil Ma has a new video out with Chris Brown and T-Pain called Shawty Get Loose. Lil Ma's look reminded me of Lil Kim.

She has the wigs and the costumes. I like the video and the song it appears to be very creative and brings back the flair of Hollywood to Hip-Hop.

Chris Brown and T-Pain add a nice flavor to the song and the video. Very futuristic. I hope the make a few more songs together

A lot of people may not take to the video right away because it's not your typical rap video. Love it or hate Lil Ma's not going to stop.

So, go to You Tube, enjoy the video and let me know what my readers think.

Spitzer Resigns, Paterson Governor on Monday

At about 11:30am Mr. Spitzer made his way from his residence in Manhattan to his Office where he resigned as the Governor of New York with his wife by his side.

Mr.Spitzer apologized to his family and the people of New York. He also paraphrased a quote from the bible that says "Much is given buy much is expected". Mr. Spitzer said that he could not live up to what was expected of him.

David Paterson also spoke about his co-worker and friend Mr. Spitzer. Paterson said that his heart goes out to Spitzer and his family. But on Monday it is time to get back to New York's Business.

David Paterson is more than qualified to run New York State and I wish him luck. I also commend Mr. Spitzer for doing the right thing.

New York's First African-American And Blind Governor

There is reason to believe that if Elliot Spitzer the present Governor of New York resigns due to the hooker scandal he is being implicated in that David Paterson will become only the third African-American governor since reconstruction.

Governor Spitzer was the victim of an F.B.I wiretap that recorded him making arrangements o hook up with a high-priced call girl at a Washington D.C. hotel last month.

The governor has apologized to his family and the public. The irony of this story is that he gained the spotlight by prosecuting at least two prostitution rings while heading up New York's Organized Crime Task Force.

If Mr. Spitzer steps down as is widely expected, David Paterson a Harlem Democrat who is blind would become Governor and finish out Mr. Spitzer term which would end on December. 31st, 2010.

We all have our demons to deal with.

Martin Lawrence Makes Family Film

Martin Lawrence has finally made a film in which he can use his comedic talents at playing a father.

The film is called "College Road Trip" and also stars Raven Simone. The movie is about James Porter an overprotective father who's daughter is on her way to college.

Lawrence's character James Porter is a Police Chief who wants his daughter to go to Northwestern University which is 20 minutes away from where they reside in the movie.

However, Simones character Melanie has other plans. She wants to go to Georgetown Universtiy with her girfriends which is 700 miles away.

So, to get her to at least look at Northeastern University Lawrence's character volunteers to drive her to D.C..

The problem with the movie was that Raven Simone whose character was from Illinios came off as if she were from California.

Overall it sounds entertaining and with Martin Lawrence you know it going to be funny.

Have America's Chicken's Come Home To Roost

Malcolm X made a statement once in which he referred to the assassination of a U.S. leader as "Chicken's coming home to roost". The violence that America nurtured back fired.

In recent years America has been very vocal when speaking out against Human Rights violation in other areas of the world such as Australia where the Aboriginal people's human rights are being violated.

This week the U.N. panel will determine whether the United States and 11 other nations, are adhering to the International Convention on Elimination of all forms of racial injustice.

The action was brought on because of the way that the U.S. government is treating the survivors of the killer storm Hurricane Katrina. The problem two U.N. advisers called the U.S. governments decision to raze ramshackle low-income homes in New Orleans discriminatory.

Activist have blasted the government for it decision to demolish four low-income housing projects in New Orleans because it would make it more difficult for poor African-American residents to return home after leaving in the aftermath of Katrina and Rita's destruction.

What I find interesting is that its been about two years and African-Americans are still struggling to recover from the storms. I start to believe that the government does not care for its minority residents because in other states such as California help was received immediately.

The government should be building in New Orleans not tearing in down. Kanye might have been correct in his assessment of the situation. Shame on you Uncle Sam, where is the leadership.

KKK Cop Takes Case To Court

Robert Henderson was a State Trooper in Nebraska but was fired because he was a member of a Ku Klux Klan affiliate. His attorneys argued before the State Supreme Court that it was no body's business that their client joined the Knights Party, an active chapter of the Klu Klux Klan, because it never affected the way he treated people of different races.

Henderson's lawyers also contend that the state violated his right to freedom of speech. They also stated that their client has never deprived anyone of any right, privilege, liberty, property or employment because of race.

Now that the case has been laid out it is obvious that a man who belongs to the Klan is racist because the Klan is a racist organization. And by Henderson's own admission he joined the Klan after his wife left him for an Hispanic man in 2004.

The problem of a police officer belonging to the Klu Klux Klan is clear. Many people he would come in contact with would be minorities who would question if he's stopping them because the law was broken or because of their race.

In my opinion he can't perform his duties effectively and I would not want him stopping me, my family or someone I know who is not the right race.

This case begs the question is it OK to be a racist and a police officer who has police powers over minorities?

Homesexual Performer Offends African-American Blacks

I have been following a story on Bet.com about a Homosexual performer named George Knipp. Mr. Knipp apparently puts on Black face, a nappy wig and ruby red lipstick.

Then it gets worst because he begins to speak his version of ghetto English and becomes a character he calls Shirley Q. Liquor who is an illiterate welfare mother with 19 kids who guzzles malt Liquor and drives a Caddy.

Homosexuals go to see this drag show all across America. But not everyone is
laughing, especially African-American women.

The problem is not that Homosexuals are laughing at what is obviously Stereotypical and ignorant. The problem is that they do not want to be discriminated against but support someone else who does.

Finally, as a African-American male the black face is really disturbing, knowing that it's only purpose was to humiliate African-Americans and make them look like the images that prejudice whites wanted to see.

Is this the image that Homosexuals have of African-Americans, especially females?

Teyana On The Rise

Bet.com has this young lady titled as the "It Girl". Then when you click her story you are redirected to her myspace page.

Next you are given the options of either calling and speaking to her or listening to tracks on a media player. I have to admit that whoever is managing her is doing it right.

If you have never watched Mtv's Super Sweet Sixteen then you wont know her. But if you have you will remember her as the super spoiled talented Young lady, Teyana Taylor, from Harlem.

Teyana is talented and creative having made a song about being a celebrity and if you don't believe just Google her.

She is signed to Pharrells Star Trak Entertainment and has a very bright future in my opinion, if she doesn't let her ego get the best of her.

Game Over for 60 Days

The Game has begun serving 60 days behind bars for felony gun charges, after turning himself in on Sunday.

Game pleaded guilty, saying that he would rather save the expense of fighting the case against a lying witness.

He allegedly pulled a pistol on a man. The Authorities say that The Game punched a man during a pick up basketball game last year and then retrieved a gun from his vehicle.

Fans and friends went with The Game to turn himself in wearing "Free The Game" T-shirts.

The Game was also ordered to serve community service and three years probation.

Considering all the circumstances I think that The Game got off easy .

Whitney Houston Headlines Charity Event In UK

Whitney without Bobby may be the best thing that ever happened to her if she can stay off of the drugs.

I knew their was something wrong as soon as she married Bobby Brown. Whitney began to spiral downward. Her career, her voice and her looks all but disappeared when she started taking drugs.

But, that's in the past and everyone deserves a second chance. And here it is. Whitney will be headlining London's Cauldwell Childrens Ball on May 8Th.

The charity said that they are happy to have her perform and appreciate her helping to raise money for disabled children.

Whitney also plans to release a new CD in November. She has not recorded in several years but I suspect that she still has the talent.

Locked Up In America

The majority in the United States is White. Yet the majority serving time in jail are minorities.

The jails are filled with African-American men who are serving time for non-violent crimes. The USA is said to have a prison based economy that creates billions of dollars a year.

The problem with jails in America they breed violence and are warehouses for young blacks who simply learn better hustles from more seasoned inmates.

Styles P said it best "why they stop letting inmates get degrees in jail". Jails are not bringing about rehabilitation but instead creating a more criminally educated inmate.

It take about 40 million a to jail someone for a year. I believe that taxpayers should get a return on their money. And finally when a inmate is released he has a hard time finding a job because of his record. I believe that federal and state government could hire ex-offenders who desire to work.
