University Employee's Abused In South Africa

South Africa is the home of Nelson Mandela. Mandela went to prison for a long time because he opposed and spoke out against the government.

The countries majority is Black but was rule by the minority group of whites.
There have been many strides in South Africa but some are determined on overshadowing the progress by perpetrating outrages acts.

At south Africa's University of Free state a few white students are facing criminal charges after video surfaced showing the abuse of several Black University employees.

The video was made to protest the integration of residence halls and shows the white students telling five black elderly workers to drink full bottles of beer. Then they were led to a field to and told to show their athletic skills.

However, the most disturbing part of the film is when a white male urinates on the food and force the workers to eat the urinated on food which caused them to vomit.

The whites involved are former and current students of the University. The administration at the school is very upset about the incident.

The students will be suspended and the victims will receive counseling according to the school.

Hundreds of Black Students and workers at the University gave the school a list of demands.

Many believe that South Africa has not really come as far as they thought but instead this incident illustrates that racism is still dominant in South African society.

Star Trek Lives On

The 18-year-old actor has hung with Justin Timberlake ("Alpha Dog"), had his own Ferris Bueller-like starring role (this week's "Charlie Bartlett"), and has spent the past few months getting a top-secret peek at one of the world's most-anticipated blockbusters. This week, Yelchin beamed himself into the MTV studios to take us where no one has gone before — and the new Pavel Andreievich Chekov did not disappoint.

"It's going to be very cool," the young actor said of "Star Trek," the May 8, 2009, reboot of the classic sci-fi series, being overseen by "Lost" mastermind J.J. Abrams. "J.J. is awesome to work with, and it's fun to find yourself on the spaceship with aliens and have sh-- blow up."

Wait a minute. Did he just say there are aliens on the bridge of the new U.S.S. Enterprise? "I'm hanging out with aliens; there are aliens on the ship," he clarified, comparing the starship's interplanetary vibe to the "Star Wars" creature cantina. "[There are] all sorts — it's a multi-ethnic film. There are lots of alien ethnicities."

In the years since the original "Trek" depicted Vulcan Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) working alongside a human crew, various incarnations have occasionally shown nonhuman crew members, like android Data or half-Borg Seven of Nine. But according to Yelchin, Abrams' depiction of the "Trek" crew's early days will reveal dozens of distinctive-looking aliens helping to run the ship.

Speaking of aliens, Yelchin said one of the biggest thrills of the "Trek" shoot was working alongside the new Spock (Zachary Quinto), and the original version as well. "It's great that Nimoy is in it," he said of the 76-year-old actor. "We did a [publicity] photo shoot with him, and that was really great. I got to literally stand next to him. Obviously, Spock is a great character, and it's great to have two Spocks in the movie. Two Spocks are better than one."

But contrary to rampant rumors, the time-warping prequel won't be bringing back other original stars to give us multiple Captain Kirks, Uhuras or Sulus. "No," he revealed. "That's the only one."

But even though 71-year-old Walter Koenig won't be reprising his role as Russian Starfleet officer Pavel Chekov, he did give Yelchin the thrill of meeting up to compare notes. "He was on set, and I talked to him for a while, and I was really nervous," Yelchin admitted sheepishly. "I was like, 'Oh my God, he's gonna come on set and say I suck!' But, he was really gracious and happy about what we were doing. I talked to him about a couple of things."

But don't expect to hear the character's most classic "Trek" phrase. "I actually don't say nuclear 'wessels,' " Yelchin admitted.

As the die-hards know, another Chekov trademark is his unfortunate tendency to get captured, tortured and/or injured on a semi-regular basis. In Abrams' flick, the character won't suffer such indignities. "Not in this one," Yelchin sighed in relief. "He's at the right place at the right time in this one. ... I don't know if it has anything to do with being cooler, but he doesn't get his; he's safe."

Recently, the flick was pushed back from late '08, disappointing many fans eager to return to outer space. Yelchin, however, is glad that Abrams will have more time to hone his vision. "I'm fine with that. ... [May] is the start of a bigger season for these types of large-scale films," he said. "Now that the writers' strike is finished, there's a little less pressure, and we can take our time with it."

Asked which scene he is most eager to watch on the big screen, Yelchin wasted no time. "The end, when you see us all together," he said of a pivotal moment that unites Chekov, Spock, Kirk (Chris Pine), McCoy (Karl Urban) and the rest of the iconic "Trek" crew members. "I can't explain how you get to see us all together, but it's pretty epic. ... You're on the Enterprise, and you just know it feels so epic. We shot the last scene in the film, and you see everyone in the gold, and the blue, and the red.

"It's great even if you're not a Trekkie," Yelchin promised. "It's an exciting thing, because it's such a big pop-culture element."

The following is from an interview with an M-tv reporter on the remake of the original "Star Trek movie." Sounds like I gotta see it.

Oscars (2008)

The Oscars were OK this year but I was a little disturbed by the Oscars going to People and movies that I was not familiar with.

For example the best motion picture Oscar went to a movie called "No Country for old Men". Didn't see it.

The best leading actor Oscar went to Daniel Day Lewis in "There will be blood". Didn't see it.

Then the Best Actress Oscar went to Marion Cotillaidin for "La Vie Rose". Once again didn't see it.

But just because I didn't see it does not mean it was not an entertaining movie. So congratulations to the films and actors who won.

Pastry's(Flavors For Your Feet)

I was watching an episode of Run's House and was blown away by the Pastry Sneakers that Vanessa and Angela Simmons created.

The sneakers are hot and in high demand. The marketing campaign is also unique because they are marketed in Cake Flavors, like Chocolate Mousse, Strawberry Shortcake, Red Velvet and Sprinkles.

Each shoe is geared to the wearers individuals tastes. It wouldn't be a bad idea for my lady readers to go out and cop a pair.

The Real Barak Obama

This week end I have been given an oppurtunity to get a look into the real world of Barak Obama via his biography which aired on Tuesday.

It was interesting to find out that he was the product of a mixed marriage with his father being African and his mother being Caucasian.

Then the program told of the many places that he has grown up in like Hawaii, where he went to a very prestiges private school.

The biography gave me a lot of insight into the first black man who I think could actually have a chance at becoming President.

I especially like the fact that after graduating college he gave up a corportate job to work for a grass roots organization in Chicago.

The move showed he was not just out for money, but has a true desire to help people.
He worked and attended Harvard Law School where he did very well becoming the president of the Harvard Law Review.

Obama could have had any job he wanted but chose to return to chicago and run for office. And the rest is history.

He has a genuine love for his fellow man which can be seen while he's getting the vote out. Obama has no problem huging his fellow man and showing his appreciation.

Obama has been compared to JFK and for good reason. Barak Obama cares for people.

Teachers, Sex Crimes, And Race

Recently in Laurens county S.C. a teacher named Allena Ward was given a six year prison sentence for having sex with a 14 and a 15 year old boy.

Ward admitted to having sex at the school where she taught, a park, a motel and a restaurant. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison each of the three counts of lewdness, but her sentence was reduced to six years in prison to run concurrently.

Some African-American residents suggested that the punishment would have been harsher if the victims had been White and the perpetrator Black.

So, has the South changed? I would say no whites still get much better treatment when it comes to breaking the law. And had the races been reversed the sentence would have been thirty years easy.

Someone in trusted with the care of children should have received a stiffer sentence because of the damage that she has caused by betraying the authority figure role she had over the two boys.

Eye Candy(Acting Manly)

Recently I found myself looking through the XXL magazine and came across the Eye Candy article.

The article was about a not very ladylike woman who acted and spoke more like a man. But, I did notice that the only thing that made her stand out was a huge behind.

The G-string she was wearing completly disappeared.

I began to think to myself is this the new image that young black men are being sensitized to. The young lady was beautiful but her behind was way to big.

I can see where a woman with a nice size behind would say dam, I can,t compete with her. In my opinion I don't think you should. If it's out of poportion it's a waste.

Ladies you are fine the way you are and I give you props for wearing your jean the way you do.

The Story Of Thugnificent

The Boondocks stay dropping science son. Monday's episode entitled Thugnificent was a work of a master who is far beyond our mental plain.

The episode opened up with a fictional ganster rapper showing a MTV reporter the dirt poor environment that he came from.

But through his gift of rap he signs a million dollar deal and moves to the mostly white suburbs of Westwood. Everyone likes him execpt his black neighbor next door granddad.

Granddad files a complaint because of a loud party and people parking on his lawn. And, in retaliation Thugnificent make a song called you just made cause you old.

Unbelievably youg people start beating up old people over the beef. Eventually they settle their differences and shake hands for the camera.

Arron McGrudder forces everyone to sit back and take a look at themselves. He magnifies how the rich don't really care about anything except their money. And how intellectual blacks are dismissed because of the images of blacks, mostly rappers, pimps, and gangsters, whites are exposed to.

The most memorable sceene in the episode was when Thugnificent met Huey and congradulated him for reading. Huey did not reply thank you but instead asked did you just congradulate me for reading?

If being intelligent, and having ambition is still seen as being an attempt for a black man to assimilate to white. We still have a long way to go.

On The Road To Riches and Diamond Rings.

Whats up my people Im back because Sunday's I rest. The title of todays subject is the fast life that both Urban and Rural African-American young adults are living.

Case in point look at all the images that are projected in the hood. Granted this is the reality of it but does it have to be glorified?

I say no, because all that a young African-American male can expect to get is death or jail.

Yours truley is not preaching but I myself was once on that road and almost paid the ultimate price.

A close friend of mine called and told me that someone in their inner cirlce had passed away recently. But she asked further and found that he was also living that fast life and lost his running for the Police.

Life is worth more than just dying young. According to Momdukes life is having fun, helping people and hoping you fall in love.

Well that all have to say about this subject. Live life right or you might not live at all. RIP V.

Samuel Jackson Steals The Show

The industry is all a buzz because of a new movie call "Jumpers". The movie stars Samuel Jackson, Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bison.

The movie is about individuals who have the power to Jump to any place they want using worm holes.

But the movie is stolen by Samuel Jackson who plays the white haired Roland who is a part of a group called the Paladins who have been killing Jumpers since the Medieval times.

Jackson tells Christensen's Character that "only god should have that kind of power".

The scenes are epic especially when Christensen jumps from New York to London and then to the top of the Sphinx in Egypt.

Some have critized Hayden Christensen's acting as not very good in this movie but I believe he was entertaining trying to keep his secret from his on screen girlfriend in the movie, played by Rachel Bison.

The Obama Air Force 1's

Today while browsing through the various new developments going on in fashion, I discorvered that a unknown talented individual has created a unique potrait on the side of an Air Force One sneaker.

The sneaker has Obamas face and his slogan "Yes We Can". It also sports the presidential colors blue and white.

The sneakers are hot but I dont think that they will ever be mass produced unless he wins the Presidential election.

If he wins I will buy a pair because they are definitely going to be collectors
items.

Barak Obamas doing pretty good in the race and has a good shot.

Flavor Flav And His Thugettes

Who would have though that The Flavor Of Love #3 could have girls with bigger mouths and faster hands.

I caught the first episode of The Flavor Of Love 3. Flave was spending one on one time with each of the girls. But for some of the girls it didn't work out because they had to share thier one on one time.

And on the first show there was already drama between a woman named shy and woman named Bee-Ex. Shy reminds me of New York and that should have been enough for Flave to get rid of her but he didn't. He allowed both to stay.

But, the most interesting thing that occurred during eliminations was that Flave had one clock left and was looking at a set of twins who have insinuated that they may have a threesome. Flave picks one of the twin who he has nicked name Thing 2, from Doctor Suess of course.

As Thing 2 approaches to get her clock Flave says you know what you can't have Thing 2 without Thing 1 and he allows them to share a clock.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 definitely have some junk in their trunks. Flav made a logical decision.

After Flave ran out of clocks he noticed that the only women left were those who were chosen over the internet. At the end of the show Flave asked why did his fans pick women who all ended up going home.

If the first show is any kind of indicator of how entertaining the rest of the show is going to be. I'm going to get season tickets.

Flavor Flave rides again.

Amy Winehouse Talented and Self-Destructive

Amy Winehouse is a very talented English singer who won five Grammy's but couldn't be there because she was denied a passport.

The reason for the denial was because Winehouse and her husband are both on drugs.
Amy was rumored to have been in Rehab when she performed via satellite "I don't want to go to rehab".

Amy has somehow managed to create good music despite being high most of the time. The problem, I don't expect her to be around long if she can't get her demons under control.

Unfortunately, eventually she will be foud dead of an overdose in at her home or in a lonely hotel room. Once again depriving the world of her talent as many performers in her situation have done before.

Amy was denied a passport because she is not a good role model to the young and impressionable. Whenever drugs are involved self-destruction is a definte side effect.

The music industry is overflowing with examples of how drug usage has taken the music away from all of us. Hopefully Amy Winehouse will wake up an smell the Roses before it to late to wake up at all.

The Grammys Go Well

Last night the most talented of the music industry gathered together to honor each other.

The name that overshadowed the Grammy's was Amy Winehouse who took home a total of 5 grammys with out even being there. Amy was denied a passport and could not leave England. But she did manage to perform her Grammy wining hit "Rehab" via satellite from the UK.

Amy Winehouse also won record of the year, song of the year, best pop vocal, and best pop vocal album.

Kanye West was also a big winner last night, having won four grammy's and performed a heart felt tribute to his mother who recently died while having surgery. Kanye won for best rap album(Graduation), best solo performance(Stronger), best performance by a group or duo(Southside Featuring Common) and best rap song(Good life with T-Pain).

Rihanna and Jay-Z were also honored with a Grammy for best vocals category for Umbrella.

Beyonce and Tina Turner put on a memorable performance of Proud Mary.

State Of The Nation

The definition of a Recession is an economic state in which the rate at which individuals and institutions begin to curtail spending. The Country stagnates.

Now back to English, I was watching a panel of bankers and economist debate over whether we are in a recession or not. No one could agree.

But in my opinion all they have to do is look around. People are not spending as much as they used to because no one feels secure in their places of employment.

And when spending goes down the economy goes down because people have to be terminated in order for companies to maintain profits.

This is especially unfortunate for minorities because they are usually the last ones hired and the first one fired.

The best way for minorities to survive recession is to go into the medical or hospital trained feilds.

People will always get sick.

50 Cents Dropped By Mark Echo

50 Cent's clothing company, G-Unit Clothing, has officially severed ties with its parent company, Marc Ecko Enterprises, it was announced Friday (February 8).

Rumors swirled that the rapper's four-year-old clothing company was on its last leg with Ecko, and on Friday morning, staffers at G-Unit Clothing were notified that they would be let go.

Earlier this week, hip-hop news maven Miss Info reported on her Web site that 50 would likely retain complete ownership of the brand and attempt to relaunch the line with another manufacturer. A similar situation occurred with Eve's clothing line, Fetish, and Marc Ecko Enterprises. The female rap star's line, however, failed to garner much attention after the split.

The partnership between 50 Cent and Ecko began in spring 2003. As an exploding superstar, 50 entered into a number of business, including a partnership with Reebok and, most famously, a stake in Glacéau VitaminWater.

Recently, a commissioned G-Unit showroom and office for 50 were placed in the Marc Ecko Enterprises compound in New York. It's unknown as of press time whether 50 would continue to work out of the building. Calls placed to representatives for Marc Ecko Enterprises were not returned as of press time.

G-unit's product was good but it wasn't the best. I believe that with all the business that 50 has to look after, he let his clothing business fall by the wayside.

But this may be an oppurtunity for him to relauch his line and give it the attention that it needs to make the money that Phat Pharm and Roca Wear have generated.

What's Really Hood?

I woke up this morning and asked my self whats really hood. I woke up bigup to God.

Then I started to takle my numbers. And started to wonder what is it all for.

After a good amount of soul searching I figured it out. It's all about the journey and not really about the destination.

So, live, love and laugh because some days are going to be good and some bad. I sit and think about all the celebrities who are in trouble with the law and I wouldn't trade places with them for all their money.

Now to answer my question what's really hood? Whats really hood is waking up and realizing that tomorrow will come and it's up to you to make it what you want. The future is never written.

Russell Simmons And Politics

I was browsing BET's web site and came across an interview that Russell Simmons had given.

Most of the civilized world knows who Russell Simmons is. He is a pioneer of hip-hop music, fashion and culture. Mr. Simmons is also an author and a activist. Not to mention wealthy.

So, with all of this information in hand please tell me why Mr. Simmon's has been attempting to reach out to both individuals in the Republican Party and Barak Obama.

Russell Simmons is concerned that the lack of return commication from both party's may be an indication of how the problems of the African-American and poor are going to be handled.

At this point I believe that I agree with Mr. Simmons. Booth party's want the white house but are not prepared to tell us what they will do for us once they are elected.

The Republican and Democratic party's have failed to contact Mr.Simmons. I think that the people who desire to run our nation have forgotten that Mr. Simmons has a large number of the younger voting publics ear.

I would advise both party's to listen to what Russell Simmons has to say.

Pimp C's Death Ruled an Accident

Everyone knows that Pimp C died a few month's ago. His death has only recently been determined to have been an accident. Pimp C died of an apparent lethal mix of perscription cough medicine and a sleeping disorder, said the Los Angeles County Corner's Office.

The Corner's Office also went on to explain that the drugs Promethazine and Codeine often ingredients found in cough medicines are often mixed together with Jolly Rancher candy and alchol to create "Sizzurp" or "Lean".

"Sizzurp" and "Lean" are habits assciated with Houston's "Chopped and Screwed movement".

Cheif Assistant Corner Ed Winter, said that Pimp C did not overdose, but a sleeping order called Sleep apnea played a role in his death.

Sleep apnea occurs when a sleeper actually stops breathing in short spurts.

Pimp C can finally Rest in peace.

New York Giants Win

The New York Giants proved that a well thought out plan and a little faith can make anything happen.

The Giant's started early with a run downfield with the intention of scoring a touch down. After converting 3rd downs into first downs, all they came away with was field goal.

So, the score was 3 to 0 and the Patriots also played well. They scored a touch down and they were up by 4 points. 7 to 3.

The game was stagnant for a while when the Giant's scored again and the score was 10 to 7.

After the Giant,s touch down the Patriots came to life and started a blitz and scored a touch down. The score was Giants 10 and the Patriots 14 in the fourth quater.

But the Giant's didn,t give up even though it was late in the game with 35 minutes left to go, Plaxico scored. The final score was Giants 17 and the Patriots 14.

Eli Manning and his Giant's walked away with a win and reminded everyone watching "it not over until its over".

Bobby Brown's Gone Country

Bobby Brown has a new reality show starting on Feb. 1st. The show is called "Gone Country" and is brought to us by Country Music Television.

The show takes seven performers from various music genres and attempts to mold them into country stars.

Gone Country is Bobby Brown's second reality show. His first was Being Bobby Brown which he Co-Executive produced on the Bravo network in 2005.

Bobby makes it quite clear that he is not leaving music and wants to drop a new R&B CD sometimes next year.

I don't know Bobby your hip-hop but your doing a Country reality show. It could hurt your credibility with your core fans. Could it be your thinking? a pay check is a paycheck.

I wish you luck Bobby.

SuperBowl Sunday

The Superbowl will be played in Glendale Arizona on Feb. 3rd, 2008. The University of Arizona will be where the Patriots meet the NY Giants.

For everyone out there who lives under a rock the NY Giants pulled out a hail Mary upset over Greenbay in the playoffs. But they stuck with it and made it to the Superbowl.

The kickoff is going to be at about 6:20Pm. Now that I have given you all the pertinent information we can plan for the SuperBowl gathering.

Don't forget the snacks, refreshments, and friends. Everyone find a comfortable spot and hunker down.

I am going with the NY Giants because I figure if they won the playoffs, they can do it again.

Oh, they claim the commercials will be unforgetable. We'll see.
